Our design philosophy is built on the concept that ART and SCIENCE work in unison to craft ideal structures and buildings that reflect our clients' goals, dreams and wishes. Design is about placemaking and the craft of building. Decisions are made through the articulation of ideas that respond to a particular set of parameters leading to appropriate, timeless and beautiful places.

The CULTURE of the design process stems from the culture of people and place. We believe our collaborative design process engages and challenges our clients, users, consultants, and ourselves to produce the best possible outcome. Context in architecture is a continuum, not a static moment in time. We strive to fully understand the cultural and emotional connections of a particular place, and create Architecture that reflects and celebrates those unique characteristics. We seek design opportunities that add to the richness already inherent in that place.

Use of CLIMATE and the appropriate environmental response are essential to responsible and sustainable architecture. Our thorough understanding of the climate of a particular place is essential for creating comfortable, beautiful and timeless spaces, whether indoor, outdoor or somewhere in between. We analyze all of the environmental impacts of our design decisions throughout our process to develop Architecture, Landscape and Urban Planning solutions that respond to the user needs while also reducing the impact on the environment.

A function of the CRAFT of architecture is to give structure to the elements that give order to space. We develop solutions that are timeless through an intuitive understanding and recognition of the importance of structural elements. We use LIGHT to define space and movement. Because we understand the importance of light and shadow in the experiential quality of a particular place our solutions enhance the expression of structure, form, materials and use.

We believe that the MATERIALS provide sensory inspiration. Materials are understood for what they are and can be. Material expression, through innovative use or by allowing a particular material to exist in its natural state, is integral to our design process. Then FORM and shapes create a sense of place. We focus on simple forms that celebrate the quality of the craftsmanship.

The ultimate expression of our work is in the DETAILS and finish of our work.  It is at this scale that the built environment is most accessible to the user; consequently, this is where we strive to have the detailing be an extension of the larger concepts driving the design. It is through this layered understanding that Architecture reveals its timeless quality.
